Tales of the Jedi Review 9.5/10

The Jedi Code

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi are animated shorts that honestly lives up to some of Lucasfilm’s best work. Each short adds to stories in the prequel era of Star Wars, specifically Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Balancing two different stories between Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku, Tales of the Jedi is close to the perfect series that the Star Wars franchise needed.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the animated movie that goes with it. She is voiced by Ashley Eckstein & immediately became a fan favorite in the Star Wars universe. Origin and backstory are given to Ahsoka in this series however more time is focused on connecting some key points to her story after the events of Order 66. Ahsoka’s half of the series was nostalgic and fun but also left the feeling of wanting to explore more of Ahsoka.

Count Dooku or Darth Tyranus

Count Dooku is voiced by Corey Burton and was first introduced in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and was played by Christopher Lee. Dooku’s half of the series focuses on his time before and his fall to the dark side and becoming Darth Tyranus. His story ties in many plot connections to the overall franchise of Star Wars. It also answers many questions that Star Wars fans have had for quite some time. Dooku’s story also has many similarities to Anakin’s story and fall to the Sith. Dooku’s half of this series involved world-building but also gave an overall compelling story.

Dooku

The Disney+ series is nothing short of a spectacle. The lore, world-building, character development, animation, transitions, voice acting, score, and overall plot are perfect. While feeling short with only six episodes, Tales of the Jedi has great pacing. One can only hope that Tales of the Jedi will get renewed for a Season 2. Star wars can tell more stories about characters fans would love to see through animated shorts such as these.
