Combat System and Skill Tree

Sonic Frontiers will have more of a focus on their new in-depth combat system. Sonic will be able to dodge and parry enemy attacks, in fact, that will be crucial against boss fights. The creators went even further, like many of today’s RPG games, Sonic will have a skill tree. Players will have the opportunity to gain exp points in order to become stronger and unlock new moves.

Check out the new trailer demonstrating some of these new skills and general gameplay.

New Abilities

Phantom Rush – An ability that will unleash a barrage of close combat attacks almost instantaneously.

Sonic Boom – A long-range attack that sends shockwaves from Sonic’s feet as he kicks toward enemies.

Wild Rush – A powerful attack as Sonic builds up momentum from zig-zagging like a pinball. This attack is also useful for dodging attacks as well.

Cyloop – Running around in loops on the ground will dig up power rings and interact with other objects. Cyloop can also be used to break enemy shields so Sonic can punish with other abilities.

You will need to continue to unlock new abilities on the skill tree as you move through the story. The further along in the story you are, the harder your enemies become and players will have to figure out how to use Sonic wisely. Many battles and encounters Sonic will face during this adventure will require a somewhat strategic method.

Sonic Frontiers will seemingly have the nostalgic Sonic feeling as well as the modern open-world style. Will you blaze your own trail as the world’s most popular hedgehog on his latest adventure? Who knows, you might “run” into some familiar faces.

Where will you be on November 8th when Sega releases Sonic Frontiers to the world?
