Rise of the Ronin

A New Samurai Open-World Action RPG Journey Across 19th-Century Japan

Team NINJA’s newest game takes you on an adventure through a “war-torn Bakumatsu” period in Japan. Rise of the Ronin is Team NINJA’s first-ever open-world game. You’ll be thrown in the middle of chaos, war, disease, and an unstable political regime as an unimportant nobody of a samurai.. at first. Your character will forge their own path and play a key role in what lies ahead.

Own your story

You play as a Ronin, which in feudal Japan is a wandering samurai without a lord or master. You are self-made and your destiny is your own, Rise of the Ronin’s story will depend on your choices. Your Ronin will have options that will have different outcomes as you may choose your alliances or choose who you may want to protect or assassinate. Your choices will shape the course of history.

To start, you see two kids who survived the massacre of their village. They are then raised as assassins. One of those kids is your character whom you will customize including customization of your weapons as you progress.

Rise of the Ronin Story Trailer

In this open-world RPG, the “Bakumatsu” period stands as the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate as a new era begins with the East and West colliding. You’ll meet key figures who will shape the course of history, but also regular citizens who are looking to attach themselves to any hope they can find.

The Open-World of Yokohama

Yokohama is the open-world area that will display on your map. Considered to be a “melting pot of traditional elements and Western influences.”

If you’ve played any games by Team NINJA, you know the combat is where they put a lot of their focus and effort. These are the same developers of Nioh and NINJA GAIDEN. Expect the combat to be super engaging with an array of weapons at your disposal. Like many games, your character in Rise of the Ronin will have a skill tree which depending on how you progress, will determine your playstyle or combat style. Fully expecting an immersive experience when it comes to combat, especially when your character reaches their peak form. And somewhat similar to Ghost of Tsushima, sneaking around for your attacks will be an essential part of the game.

Rise of the Ronin or Dragon’s Dogma II

The game will be playable at midnight of March 21st, 2024 along with Dragon’s Dogma 2. Both have generated a lot of excitement which truly depends on your taste in which one you might prefer. If you’re anything like us at The Alternate Timeline, you probably already have both in the library at this very moment.
